Modern Oriental | A New Approach to Chinese Design

I loving the subtle hints of oriental elements in this house by Burnham Design.

The Buddha lamps and the rug pattern... such a sophisticated and modern way to bring in Chinese elements.

The sofa fabric and rug pattern remind me of traditional Chinese window fretwork.

I love this amazing wall paneling and the sleek shape of the lamps.

Another beautiful Asian-inspired apartment by Francesca Herrera.

Speaking of Asian design, when I hear Chinese garden / architecture, this is what I have in my very typical Asian mind:

But who knew it can look like this:

The Suzhou Museum by the ingenious architect, I. M. Pei
What a fresh approach on Chinese architecture!

The Brooklyn Home Company

I added this beautiful home to my bookmark wayy long ago but completely forgot to blog about it. When I accidentally clicked on it this morning, I was immediately drawn to the harmony of organic and industrial feel, the balance of brown and white, and the beautiful wood beams and furniture-- the same spark I felt when I first saw it. So I did some research and found that the home owners, Fitzhugh and Lyndsay, are both designers (one designs furniture and the other jewelry!) and are part of a real estate developing company called The Brooklyn Home Company.

Here are some of their other equally beautiful projects:

so in love with this custom wood counter
